DRIVE MOMENTS / PRIVACY

Privacy Policy

Updated 23 October 2026

For hosting, analytics and privacy choices on these web pages, see the website privacy policy. This policy describes the Drive Moments app and support separately.

1. Purchases and export allowance

Apple handles purchases and provides verified transaction information to unlock or restore Drive Moments Pro. EGOHEAD WORKS does not receive your payment card details. The app stores the current UTC month and identifiers of successfully exported video clips locally to manage the free allowance and allow repeat exports. No routes or videos are transmitted for this counter. Purchase entitlement is verified by StoreKit; it can be restored with the same Apple Account. If you agreed to usage statistics, purchase steps are counted in Firebase Analytics as described in section 9.

2. Camera videos

Drive Moments offers optional camera video with a live cockpit overlay. Camera access is requested only when you enable video in the cockpit. Sound is optional and enabled by default. Recording with sound requires microphone permission; you can turn it off before recording and choose whether to keep or remove recorded sound when exporting. Original videos, time-linked speed readings and cockpit exports are stored separately on the recording device and excluded from logbook backups, iCloud sync and iOS device backups. They remain until you delete the clips in the logbook or local video library, delete the associated drive on this device, or remove the app and its data. Camera videos are linked locally to their drive; design changes are stored with media time. Merging drives reassigns separate clips and does not concatenate videos. Sharing transfers the selected file to the recipient or service you choose. No video is sent to EGOHEAD WORKS. Camera and microphone permissions can be changed in iOS Settings.

4. What the app processes

Drives can contain route coordinates, speed, timestamps, start and end locations, duration, distance, titles, tags, stories, selected photos, favorites, tours and vehicle association. Measurements include type, estimated time, distance, G-force, data quality, vehicle association and setup notes. Preferences include language, units and acknowledged safety notices.

5. Local storage

Saved records are stored locally on your device using SwiftData until you delete them in the app, remove the app and its data, or iOS removes data. No Drive Moments account is required. Optional iCloud sync is off by default and must be enabled on each device after consent. It transfers completed drives, precise route coordinates, measurements, vehicle profiles, stories and selected photos to your private CloudKit database under your Apple Account. Apple provides iCloud; EGOHEAD WORKS has no access to that private database. Active recordings remain on the recording device until finished. Offline edits wait for reconnection; conflicting edits are retained as copies. Synced deletions reach other devices. You can turn sync off in Settings; doing so does not delete existing cloud records. You can manage iCloud data in system settings. Sync is not a backup. iOS device backups may contain app data depending on your system settings.

6. Apple services and location

The app uses Apple Maps, Apple geocoding for place names and optional WeatherKit. These Apple services may receive location data. Saved start and end coordinates are transmitted for address lookups; weather requests send the recording location to WeatherKit. Coordinates may be precise. Apple processing is also subject to Apple’s own terms and privacy information.

7. Permissions

Location access supports recording you start and the speed display. Background recording is optional and requires the appropriate location permission. Motion sensors provide estimated G-force. The system photo picker grants access only to photos you select. Optional Face ID, Touch ID or device passcode protection uses system authentication; the app does not receive biometric data. You can change or revoke permissions in iOS Settings.

8. Export and deletion

Settings lets you export saved drives, measurements and vehicle profiles as CSV or JSON or delete them. PDF reports provide a readable summary. A separate Drive Moments backup file can preserve complete records for restore; restoration adds missing entries without overwriting existing records. Backups do not include app preferences. The logbook offers filtered exports. JSON exports and backup files contain sensitive route coordinates. When sharing, you choose the recipient and service; deleting records in Drive Moments does not recall shared files. App preferences remain when saved data is deleted.

9. Usage statistics with your consent

Drive Moments has no advertising and no public feed. We do not operate a server receiving your driving records and do not sell driving data.

After the safety notice, the app asks once whether you want to share usage statistics. Only if you choose “Allow”, App Store versions send usage statistics to Google Analytics for Firebase (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, and Google LLC, USA). Without your consent nothing is collected or stored for this purpose; TestFlight, Xcode and simulator builds never send.

Collected: app starts and sessions, completed setup, finished trips (with or without video), exports, saved measurements, opening the Pro page and the steps of a Pro purchase (product, price, currency, transaction ID). Firebase stores a pseudonymous app instance ID on your device and derives an approximate region from the IP address; Google states it does not store IP addresses of users in the EU. Routes, coordinates, place or vehicle names, stories, photos and videos are never included. No advertising identifier (IDFA) or vendor identifier (IDFV) is used, and advertising consent stays denied.

Purpose: understanding which features are used and where the app needs to improve. Legal basis: your consent (§ 25(1) TDDDG and Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Google acts as our processor and may process data in the USA; Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Event data is kept for the retention period set in Google Analytics (2 or 14 months).

You can withdraw your consent at any time in Settings → Share usage statistics. Withdrawing stops further collection and resets the app instance ID on your device; it does not delete data already sent. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before it. Details: Firebase privacy information. Apple may process its own diagnostics and store data depending on your iOS and App Store settings.

10. Contact, retention and rights

When you contact us, we process your message and contact details to handle the request. Share only necessary information and avoid private routes unless needed. If you request a launch notification, we use your email address for that one requested message; you can withdraw the request at any time. Messages are retained only as necessary for the request or legal obligations. Where applicable, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability and complain to a data protection authority. Contact the address above. We cannot remotely access app data stored only on your device.

11. Legal grounds

Where the GDPR applies, processing necessary to provide the app and respond to contractual support requests is based on Article 6(1)(b). General enquiries are handled under Article 6(1)(f), our legitimate interest in answering messages and supporting our products. A requested launch notification is based on consent under Article 6(1)(a); you may withdraw it at any time. Mandatory retention is based on Article 6(1)(c). You may object to processing based on legitimate interests on grounds relating to your particular situation. Device permissions can be changed in iOS Settings.

12. Supervisory authority

You may complain to a competent data protection authority, including the Saxon Data Protection and Transparency Commissioner, or the authority responsible for your place of residence or work.

13. This website

These product pages can generate technical server logs. Website processing is described in the EGOHEAD WORKS website privacy policy. The app and website are separate processing contexts.
