Discovering food through knolling
See a dish before it comes together.
Knolling arranges objects in an orderly view so their shapes and relationships are easy to see. In ZEST, Knolling Mode uses ingredients and tools as the subject of the puzzle, giving you another view of a dish before cooking.

Read the arrangement
Notice repeated shapes, straight alignments and gaps between objects. These are useful landmarks when an ingredient image becomes a puzzle.
Connect the ingredients
Ask which ingredients you recognise and which are unfamiliar. The image can be a starting point for exploring a recipe, rather than just a picture to finish.
Move from image to recipe
After the puzzle, look at the quantities and cooking steps. The finished arrangement is a preview; the recipe supplies the instructions.
Make it part of your day
ZEST brings together food picture puzzles, ingredient arrangements and recipes. Try the browser puzzle, then explore dishes and your cookbook in the app.

Is knolling a cooking method?
No. It is a way of arranging and photographing objects. ZEST uses it as a visual puzzle mode.
Does the picture replace a recipe?
No. Quantities and preparation instructions still matter. Use the recipe when you move from playing to cooking.
